The Emperor's Children Project – A Passion Reignited

It was 2019. A slimmer, less grey-haired Toni had just finished that year's No Retreat tournament, and decided to begin a new project: an Emperor’s Children army. I started preparing some conversions and minis for what would be my next 40K army. But with the arrival of Covid and the lack of games, the project gradually faded and was shelved indefinitely.

Finally, with the release of the new Emperor’s Children miniatures in early 2025, my interest in the army has returned with full force. As soon as the new models hit stores, I couldn’t help myself—I’ve bought everything that has come out so far. With the first wave nearly finished and already working on the second, I'm now starting to paint Fulgrim, who is, quite frankly, a miniature beast.

This project combines several aspects: not only my personal passion for painting (as most of the army is part of my own collection), but also a few commissioned miniatures for collectors—like Fulgrim, Lucius, and other characters. So you’ll see a mix of tabletop-quality units and high-end display pieces.

My goal is to showcase this army at Armies on Parade 2025, and try to earn a spot once again, as I did with the silver medal back in 2023… or was it 2022? I can’t remember anymore—time flies too fast.

🇪🇸 El Proyecto de los Hijos del Emperador – Una Pasión Reavivada

Corría el 2019. Un Toni más delgado y con menos canas acababa de terminar el torneo No-Retreat de aquel año y decidió iniciar un nuevo proyecto: un ejército de los Hijos del Emperador. Así fue como empecé a preparar algunas conversiones y miniaturas para lo que sería mi siguiente ejército de 40K. Pero con la llegada del Covid y la falta de partidas, la idea se disolvió poco a poco y quedó aparcada para siempre.

Finalmente, con la salida de las nuevas miniaturas a principios de 2025, mi interés por el ejército ha vuelto con fuerza. Tan pronto como fueron saliendo las novedades, no pude evitarlo: he ido comprando todo. Con la primera caja casi terminada y ya pintando las miniaturas de la segunda oleada, estoy empezando a darle las primeras pinceladas a Fulgrim, que es, directamente, un miniaturón.

Este proyecto va a mezclar varias cosas: no solo mi pasión personal por la pintura (ya que la mayor parte del ejército es mío), sino también algunas miniaturas por encargo para coleccionistas, como Fulgrim, Lucius y otros personajes. Así que habrá una mezcla de unidades para juego rápido y otras con acabados de vitrina.

Mi idea es presentar este proyecto en el Armies on Parade de este año, e intentar volver a revalidar la plata que conseguí en 2023… o fue en 2022? Ya no lo sé, el tiempo pasa demasiado rápido.
